The woman who previously accused Jay-Z and Diddy of s*xually assaulting her when she was 13 is now seeking to have a defamation lawsuit filed against her by Jay-Z dismissed.
In newly filed court documents on Tuesday, the woman—who initially brought her claims against Jay-Z under the alias Jane Doe—is asking the court to throw out the lawsuit he filed in Alabama against her and her attorney, Tony Buzbee.
In her motion, she argues that the statements made in her original court filings are legally protected as privileged, and therefore cannot serve as grounds for a defamation suit. She also contends that her interview with NBC was based solely on the same claims outlined in those legal documents.
The woman had previously filed a rape lawsuit in New York, alleging that both Jay-Z and Diddy assaulted her in 2000. She later dropped that suit, but Jay-Z responded by filing a defamation lawsuit in Alabama, where she resides, accusing her and Buzbee of bringing forward false and damaging allegations.
Now, she is requesting that the court dismiss Jay-Z’s lawsuit with prejudice, which would prevent it from being refiled in the future. Buzbee had earlier submitted a similar motion, claiming an agreement had been reached between the parties but was later broken by Jay-Z—a claim Jay-Z’s legal team has denied.
In her filing, the woman echoes this claim, insisting the lawsuit should be dismissed based on the terms of that alleged agreement. Jay-Z’s representatives have not yet issued a public response.
