Prince Harry arrived in the UK last weekend ahead of his High Court proceedings, but despite being in London at the same time as his father, King Charles, the two did not reunite.
King Charles flew back to London from Highgrove on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. for a scheduled cancer treatment, making it “not possible” for the Duke to meet him, as Harry did not land until 3:30 p.m. However, there may be another reason for their lack of a meeting.
Royal author Robert Hardman suggests that a reunion could have posed “legal jeopardy” due to Harry’s ongoing court case.
Speaking on the Mail’s Palace Confidential, Hardman explained, “There is legal jeopardy in the simple fact that you have the son of the King suing the King’s ministers in the King’s court, which creates all sorts of legal complications.”
He continued, “It would only take Harry to have a conversation with his father and then later let slip, ‘Oh, my dad said this or my dad said that.’ As we know, Harry can sometimes repeat conversations quite readily, and that could lead to significant issues. It could even jeopardize the entire case, given that the King is the fount of justice. He must be very careful.”

The Duke of Sussex is challenging the decision by the Home Office to limit his taxpayer-funded security when in the UK, following his departure as a senior royal in 2020. He is contesting the ruling by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different level of protection.
In 2024, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane upheld the Ravec decision, ruling that it was not irrational or procedurally unfair. During the hearing, Harry’s legal team told the court that both he and Meghan felt “forced to step back” as senior royals in 2020.
The hearing also made headlines when a member of the public, as the Royal Courts of Justice was cleared early for a private part of the session, shouted her support for Prince Harry.
