Virginia Giuffre’s lawyer has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding her death, stating that Giuffre showed “no signs” of wanting to end her own life. Giuffre, who accused Prince Andrew of s*xual abuse, was found unresponsive at her remote farmhouse in Neergabby, Australia, on the night of April 25.
A major crime investigation team spent up to twelve hours gathering evidence at the scene. Karrie Louden, Giuffre’s lawyer, arrived shortly after the discovery and expressed skepticism about claims of suicide.
“There are significant uncertainties regarding this situation,” Louden remarked. “While we know there’s suicide and misadventure, I can’t speculate on which it may be. I wasn’t there, and I didn’t see her. The family has provided their accounts, but that doesn’t lead us to any conclusions.”
Reports suggest that Giuffre might have overdosed on medication, although it remains unclear if this was intentional.
Louden noted that Giuffre had been recently hospitalized and was taking medication, questioning whether she simply took too many painkillers or if it was a deliberate act. “I’m in the dark about the cause of death,” she admitted.
Despite facing health challenges, Louden emphasized that Giuffre had been optimistic and making future plans, including home renovations. “She was in considerable pain but was looking forward to things,” Louden noted. “We were supposed to meet today to discuss legal matters. Last week, she seemed positive.”
Louden stressed that there were no indications Giuffre was contemplating suicide. “If we had even suspected she was considering it, we would have intervened, sought help, or placed her in a clinic,” she said. “When I received the call, I honestly thought it was a joke. There were no signs suggesting she was in that place.”
Law enforcement has released limited details, and it may take up to two years for a coroner’s report to be finalized. A spokeswoman for the Perth Coroner’s Court confirmed an investigation into Giuffre’s death, but results will not be made public.
While Louden emphasized that there appeared to be “no suspicious circumstances,” she acknowledged the peculiar nature of the situation and pointed out that “we may never know the full story.” Toxicology tests are expected in the next few days, but whether her death will be classified as suicide, misadventure, or remain inconclusive is still uncertain.
Giuffre’s body has been removed from the farmhouse, with police conducting a thorough examination of the property following the alarm being raised.
