Virginia Giuffre, the woman who has accused Prince Andrew of s*xual misconduct, has stated that she mistakenly posted a claim on her public Instagram account indicating that she had just four days left to live following a car accident.
The 41-year-old sparked concern online when she shared a photo of herself appearing “battered and bruised,” alleging that she was dying after being struck by a school bus. In her post, Giuffre claimed that a speeding vehicle had collided with her car and that doctors had informed her she had only four days to live.
Today, she released a statement to clarify the circumstances surrounding the “car crash” that led to her injuries and subsequent kidney failure.
The statement read: “Virginia expresses her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support. She is truly overwhelmed with appreciation.
“She remains in serious condition while receiving medical care. On March 24, in rural Western Australia, a school bus collided with the car in which she was traveling.
“The police were notified but reported that no officers were available to respond to the scene. They inquired if anyone was injured and suggested seeking medical attention if needed.
“The school bus driver, who had a bus full of distressed children, left the scene to return them home, stating he would file a police report, which he did later.
“Virginia was injured and returned home; however, her condition deteriorated, leading to her hospitalization. Regarding her Instagram post, Virginia mistakenly believed she was posting on her private Facebook page. Virginia and her family appreciate everyone’s concern.”
She is currently receiving treatment at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Perth, Australia.
In January, the latest release of court documents related to Jeffrey Epstein revealed that Giuffre alleged she was paid $15,000 (£12,000) to engage in s*xual acts with Prince Andrew. As part of a civil suit against Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell, she testified about her alleged abuse by the Duke of York in 2016.
When asked under oath in 2016 whether she received money “by or on behalf of Jeffrey Epstein” for the encounter, which Andrew denies occurred, she responded, “Yes, I did receive $15,000. I don’t know what that is in pounds. I received it in American dollars.”
Prince Andrew reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre, formerly Roberts, to avoid a trial in 2022. He had been facing public scrutiny over allegations that he s*xually abused Giuffre three times when she was just 17, during her victimization by a trafficking ring led by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The Duke has consistently denied these accusations.
