David and Victoria Beckham are mourning the loss of Craig Ainsworth, their former bodyguard, who has tragically passed away.
Craig, a former Royal Marine who served with the Beckhams from 2013 to 2015, was found in Spain after being reported missing. His mother, Sally Ainsworth, shared the heartbreaking news on social media.
“Craig has been found,” she wrote on Saturday, April 5. “With the greatest sadness, the world has lost Craig. He served in Afghanistan and had PTSD.” She also shared a poignant photo of Craig in his military uniform, captioning it: “RIP Craig.”
Before the tragic discovery, Sally had issued a desperate appeal for help in locating her son, noting that police were focusing their search in Alicante and Barcelona. Craig, in his 40s, had posted a concerning “goodbye” message on Facebook before disappearing.
After his service with the Royal Marines, Craig worked as a bodyguard for numerous Hollywood stars, including Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Hemsworth, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa. He joined the Beckham family in 2013 when they lived in Holland Park, London, and worked closely with them for two years.
In an interview following the release of the 2023 Beckham documentary, Craig praised David and Victoria for their parenting. “David was charming,” he recalled. “Victoria kept to herself, focusing on the kids or working. Despite the media attention, their children are well-behaved, which speaks to how well they’re raising them.”
David and Victoria Beckham have yet to publicly respond to the tragic news of Craig’s passing.
In addition to his bodyguard work, Craig was a Royal Marine Commando and author. His 2023 biography, The Discombobulated Alpha, detailed his life, including the profound loss of eleven friends to suicide during the pandemic.
His book reflects on his journey to redefine his purpose and the creation of his coaching platform, Virtuous Savage, which aims to help others build “resilient minds” and “healthy bodies.”
