The Princess of Wales took a brief break from her family’s Easter holiday to share a special video filmed in the Lake District, highlighting her deep connection to nature and its powerful impact on wellbeing.
In the short clip, released during the Easter school break, Kate, 43, is seen walking along the shores of Lake Windermere last month with a group of Scouts from Cumbria and Stretford, Greater Manchester.
Dressed in casual outdoor gear including a baker boy cap, bomber jacket, roll-neck jumper, jeans and walking boots, the Princess looked relaxed as she engaged with the young scouts.
As she strolled through the wooded landscape with Chief Scout Dwayne Fields, Kate opened up about how nature gives her a sense of calm and clarity.
“I find it a very spiritual and very intense emotional reconnection, I suppose, these environments,” she shared. “Not everyone has that same relationship with nature, but for me, it’s a place to find peace and balance in what is otherwise a very busy world.”
Dwayne asked her what she thinks about when surrounded by nature, to which she replied with warmth and sincerity. The meeting marked their first encounter since Dwayne assumed the Chief Scout role in September.
Kate also praised the Scouts for their enduring impact: “What’s so fantastic about the Scouts is that the foundation has always been there. Even though the modern world is so different now, the Scouts still resonate with young people and are making such a massive difference.”
The Princess, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment and in remission, has previously described how nature became a source of strength and solace for her family during her health battle. She has long championed outdoor experiences as key to mental and physical wellbeing.
The video also showed Kate engaging with Scouts aged 10 to 15 as they navigated trails with maps. She encouraged them to take in the views of the stunning landscape, saying: “It’s so beautiful because so many of the walks here, you can see Lake Windermere—because it’s huge, isn’t it? Look how hilly it is in here. Have you done any of these big mountains?”

While she and Prince William are taking time off from royal duties to enjoy the school holidays with Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, Kate’s message served as a poignant reminder of the healing power of nature—and the importance of reconnecting with it.
