The Pope’s Final Meeting With King Charles And Queen Camilla

The royal visit to the Vatican had initially been delayed due to Pope Francis’s recent health struggles, which saw him hospitalized for double pneumonia and chronic bronchitis.

However, a special meeting between the Pope and the King and Queen took place, creating a lasting memory for all involved.

A poignant photo from the meeting was shared, capturing the royal couple with His Holiness during this significant moment.

The caption accompanying the image read: “A special moment for Their Majesties as they privately met His Holiness Pope Francis at the Vatican yesterday. The King and Queen were deeply touched by the Pope’s kind remarks about their 20th wedding anniversary and honoured to be able to share their best wishes with him in person.”

The private visit lasted approximately 20 minutes, during which King Charles and Queen Camilla exchanged wedding anniversary gifts with the Pope.

Following the meeting, a senior Palace official commented: “I think outside of the official programme, the most significant and moving aspect was the visit to the Pope. We didn’t know until the last minute that it would be possible.

“But when the Pope requested to see the King and Queen, Their Majesties were clearly delighted. They’ve known him for many years, and like the rest of the world, they’ve been praying for his recovery.

“The Pope took the opportunity to personally wish them a happy anniversary, especially as the state visit had not been possible on this occasion. Both Their Majesties left the meeting feeling that it had been a truly meaningful and special moment.”
