Prince Harry made a surprise trip to Ukraine on Wednesday, 10 April, where he met with injured service members as part of his ongoing efforts to support wounded veterans.
The Duke of Sussex visited the Superhumans Center, a renowned orthopaedic clinic in Lviv that provides rehabilitation for injured military personnel and civilians. The clinic offers services such as reconstructive surgery and psychological support, all free of charge.
Harry’s visit came after an invitation from the centre’s CEO, Olga Rudneva, who had previously extended the offer during this year’s Invictus Games. A spokesperson for the Duke confirmed that he toured the centre, met with patients, and engaged with medical professionals, including the surgical team, to learn more about the cutting-edge services provided.
Lviv, which has been frequently targeted by Russian forces amid the ongoing war, remained a carefully guarded secret until Harry had left the country. In February, Rudneva shared that during a prior conversation with the Duke, they had exchanged gifts, including a t-shirt and bracelet inscribed with the words, “Whoever saves one life saves the world.”
She emphasized the importance of Harry’s continued support for Ukraine, saying, “We are from Ukraine, and he has been supporting the Ukrainian team here, and all Ukrainians have seen that. People are very, very overwhelmed by his gesture.”
Accompanying Harry on the trip were several veterans from his Invictus Games Foundation, including four who had undergone similar rehabilitation following injuries in military conflicts. The group also met members of Ukraine’s Invictus team during their visit.
