Teenage girl, 17, was shot dead in ‘REVENGE’ war after gang member is humiliated online

A teenage girl was gunned down in a ‘tit-for-tat’ shooting between rival gangs triggered by one member being humiliated on social media.

Tanesha Melbourne-Blake, 17, was standing with her boyfriend and friends on a road in Tottenham on April 2, 2018, when she was shot in an alleged drive-by shooting.

A car pulled up and an occupant opened fire. A witness described seeing three bright sparks and hearing a ‘pap, pap, pap’, court heard.

Tanesha was hit in the chest and died at the scene. Jurors were told that as she collapsed, she told her friend: ‘Jace, I’ve been shot’.

It is confirmed that the shooting was the result of a ‘long-standing enmity’ between rival gangs in Wood Green and Northumberland Park.

She added that Tanesha – who died of internal blood loss – may not have been the intended target.

Marcus La Croix, 37, and Michael Clarke, 35, have been accused of her murder. They are said to have been among a group of men who travelled from Wood Green into rival territory that night, before fatal shots were fired.

The shooting followed a violent attack on La Croix by men linked to the Northumberland Park gang ‘Sin Squad’ in the early hours of April 1.
