While King Charles and Queen Camilla led the royal family at the traditional Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle, several notable royals were absent from this year’s gathering at St George’s Chapel.
The King, 76, and Queen, 77, looked in good spirits as they greeted well-wishers outside the chapel, smiling and waving as they made their way into the service. They were joined by a host of senior royals, including Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
However, this year’s service was more low-key than in years past, with several high-profile family members missing from the occasion.
Prince William, Princess Kate, and Their Children
Among the most noticeable absentees were the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. While the family typically attends the annual service, they opted to spend the Easter weekend privately at their Norfolk residence, Anmer Hall, as the children are currently on school break.
Their absence follows a similarly quiet Easter last year, shortly after Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis. Now in remission, the Princess has understandably stepped back from public duties during her recovery.
Other Missing Royals
Zara and Mike Tindall, who are often seen at Easter services with their daughters, were also not in attendance this year. Zara last appeared at the 2023 service with her daughters Mia and Lena.
Also missing were Zara’s brother, Peter Phillips, and Lady Louise Windsor, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who is currently studying at the University of St Andrews. Sarah Chatto’s sons, Samuel and Arthur, were likewise absent from the family gathering.
A Scaled-Back Royal Gathering
Despite the reduced headcount, the gathering still marked a significant moment for the family. King Charles was joined by his brother, Prince Andrew, and Sarah, Duchess of York—marking Andrew’s first public appearance since missing the Christmas festivities in Sandringham amid ongoing controversy.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were accompanied by their son, James, Earl of Wessex, who looked sharp in a navy suit and red tie. Princess Anne attended with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
Eugenie and Beatrice Lead the Style Charge
Style was on full display as Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie made elegant entrances. Beatrice, 36, embraced the season in a bottle green coat dress and a bold headband, while Eugenie turned heads in a cream trench coat paired with a veiled white hat, nude pumps, and a suede clutch.
Though the gathering was smaller than usual, the spirit of Easter remained front and center, with those present upholding the cherished tradition of faith, family, and royal grace at Windsor.
