Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden have revealed the date of their daughter Princess Ines’s royal christening—and it’s one that holds deep personal significance for the couple.
The Swedish Royal Court confirmed that the baptism will take place on Friday, 13 June at the Drottningholm Palace Chapel in Stockholm. The date marks a joyful milestone for the royal parents, as it also happens to be their 10th wedding anniversary. The couple exchanged vows at the same venue on 13 June 2015, making the upcoming ceremony especially meaningful.
Princess Ines’s christening will be officiated by Chief Chaplain Bishop Johan Dalman and Royal Court Chaplain Michael Bjerkhagen, who are both closely involved in royal family ceremonies. Following the service, a private reception and luncheon will be held for invited guests.
Like her elder brothers, Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel, Princess Ines does not hold the style of Her Royal Highness, following changes to royal house protocols. However, her grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf, has bestowed upon her the title of Duchess of Västerbotten.
Her full name was officially announced just three days after her birth earlier this year, although King Carl made headlines by accidentally referring to his granddaughter as “Princess Inse” during the announcement.
Ines is the youngest of the king and Queen Silvia’s eight grandchildren, who also include Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, the children of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, as well as Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Adrienne, the children of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill.
With a meaningful date and royal tradition woven into the day, Princess Ines’s christening promises to be both a sacred ceremony and a heartwarming celebration for the Swedish royal family.
