As they prepare to celebrate 14 years of marriage, the Prince and Princess of Wales have a meaningful trip planned that reflects both their shared passions and royal duties. Kensington Palace has announced that William and Kate will spend their anniversary in the Scottish Isles next week, reconnecting with rural communities and highlighting causes close to their hearts.
On Monday 29 April, the day of their anniversary, the couple will visit Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, where they’ll explore a local community hub and browse an artisan market, engaging with island residents and small business owners.
Later that day, the royal pair—known in Scotland by their titles the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay—will tour a traditional croft to learn more about sustainable farming and hospitality, a nod to their ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship.
The visit holds special significance for the couple, as Scotland is where their love story began. Prince William and Kate first met in 2001 while studying at the University of St Andrews, marking the beginning of a two-decade journey that’s since seen them become one of the world’s most admired royal couples.
The following day, Tuesday 30 April, William and Kate will be joined by local schoolchildren for a visit to an ancient woodland, where they’ll meet with the Mull and Iona Ranger Service. The rangers play a key role in conservation, biodiversity education, and the protection of the islands’ rich natural heritage.
A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said: “During their visit to the Scottish Isles, Their Royal Highnesses will spend time with members of the local community reflecting on the power of social connection and the importance of protecting and championing the natural environment—two subjects which are close to both of Their Royal Highnesses’ hearts.”
William and Kate began dating in 2003 and were married on 29 April 2011 in a grand ceremony at Westminster Abbey. In recognition of the occasion, the late Queen Elizabeth II bestowed upon them the titles Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Following Her Majesty’s passing in 2022, they assumed their current roles as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The couple now shares three children: Prince George (born 2013), Princess Charlotte (born 2015), and Prince Louis (born 2018). This latest royal engagement comes just after the family enjoyed a private Easter holiday together, making their upcoming anniversary both a time of celebration and reflection.
