Former U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that a decision on Iran will be made “very quickly,” following what officials have described as constructive nuclear talks between the two nations in Oman over the weekend.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said he had met with advisers regarding the situation and anticipated a swift outcome, though he did not elaborate on the specifics.
“We’ll be making a decision on Iran very quickly,” he stated.
The comments come amid growing concerns over reports that Iran is nearing the capability to produce a nuclear weapon. While Trump has previously warned of potential military action should diplomacy fail, recent developments suggest a renewed focus on negotiations.
According to Axios, sources familiar with the discussions revealed that a second round of U.S.-Iran nuclear talks is scheduled for next Saturday in Rome.
The meeting in Oman marked the first direct engagement between Iranian officials and the Trump camp, including his previous administration from 2017 to 2021. Diplomats on both sides characterized the talks as “productive, calm, and positive.”
When asked about the discussions on Saturday, Trump was cautiously optimistic. “It’s going okay. Nothing matters until you get it done, so I don’t like talking about it too much, but the Iran situation is going pretty good, I think,” he said.
As the next round of talks approaches, global attention remains fixed on the outcome, with the future of Iran’s nuclear program—and regional stability—hanging in the balance.
