A man in New York City was carried out of a Brooklyn apartment by police after allegedly attacking four young girls—believed to be his relatives—with a meat cleaver in a gruesome early morning incident, according to the NYPD.
Shocking footage shows the man being restrained and carried face-down by several officers before being strapped onto a gurney. Authorities confirmed he was alive at the time but remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
The violent ordeal began when an 11-year-old girl made a frantic 911 call around 6 a.m., reporting that her uncle had stabbed her and her siblings. Officers responded swiftly, and upon arrival, heard screams from inside the apartment.
According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, officers forced their way in and were met with a horrific scene. The suspect, holding a bloodied meat cleaver, stood inside as blood stained the floors and walls. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, the man reportedly advanced toward officers, prompting them to open fire.
Police later released images of the bloodied cleaver along with a large kitchen knife, both recovered at the scene. It’s unclear whether both weapons were used by the attacker.
Graphic photos published by the New York Post show at least one victim—believed to be a teenage girl—covered in blood but still conscious and standing.
Four girls, aged 16, 13, 11, and 8, were rushed to the hospital and are expected to survive their injuries. A fifth child, a young boy who was also in the apartment, was unharmed and is said to have opened the door for responding officers.
The suspect’s motive remains under investigation, as does the exact nature of his relationship with the children.
