Prince William and Prince George were completely in sync as they rode an emotional rollercoaster during Aston Villa’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
The father-son duo were spotted in the stands at the Parc des Princes, passionately cheering on their team and sharing every high and low of the intense match.
George, proudly sporting his Aston Villa scarf, was seen celebrating alongside his dad after Morgan Rogers gave the team an early lead — with William punching the air in delight and throwing an affectionate arm around his son.
Before the match, Prince William spoke about the special occasion during a TNT Sports interview with Rio Ferdinand and Ally McCoist. When asked if it was a “lads’ trip,” he smiled and said, “Well, I’ve got my son here as well, so I’m on best behaviour.”
He continued, “It’s been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition. I hope it’s not another 43 years before the next one! These memories are really important to create, and bringing him along tonight is a big deal for me.”
Despite the electric atmosphere and strong start from Villa, the match ended in disappointment for the royals as PSG came from behind to win 3-1. Still, the evening was clearly memorable for William and George, who were a picture of shared passion and pride throughout.
With the second leg still to come at Villa Park, there’s no doubt the pair will be backing their team every step of the way — whether in the stands or from home.
