The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command has apprehended 20-year-old Tiamiyu Oluwatobi Samuel for the alleged r*pe of a 12-year-old girl in Gbongan after she rejected his advances.
The command’s public relations officer, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, revealing that the suspect threatened to kill the victim if she spoke about the incident.
According to the statement, the suspect had known the victim for three years and had previously asked her to be his girlfriend, but she turned him down. On Sunday, March 23, 2025, around 3:00 PM, the victim was passing by Samuel’s house when he called her over and, with the help of an accomplice, forcibly dragged her into his room.
The suspect allegedly threatened the girl with a cutlass and proceeded to assault her. After the incident, the victim began to bleed, and Samuel warned her that he would kill her if she disclosed what had happened. The accomplice remains at large but will face legal repercussions once apprehended.
Samuel has confessed to the crime, and a medical report confirms that the victim’s hymen was broken. Commandant CC Igbalawole Sotiyo assured the public that the suspect will be charged in court following the completion of the investigation. He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and watchful over their children.
Commandant Sotiyo also issued a stern warning to anyone involved in such heinous acts, emphasizing that failure to desist will lead to severe consequences.
