Buithat Hudu Muhammad Lawal, a Nigerian biochemist, has shared her search for a second wife for her husband in a recent Facebook post. The post, made on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, reveals her admiration for polygamy, but also her concerns about how some men approach it.
According to Buithat, she isn’t interested in a jealous or manipulative co-wife but rather someone who is kind, wise, loving, and possesses strong character.
“Hey loves, I’m smiling as I write this. Yesterday, I made a post about wanting a co-wife — someone to join me on this journey of life with my husband. I noticed some people thought I wasn’t serious, maybe even joked about it. But deep down, I meant every word,” she wrote.
“I’ve always admired polygamy. It’s never been an issue for me. What I do take issue with is how many men approach it, lacking fairness and wisdom.”
She continued, expressing that growth has shifted her perspective. “I’ve always told my husband, if he wants to take another wife, I support it — but he must involve me fully in the process.”
Buithat clarified that she is not looking for a co-wife who is jealous or manipulative but someone who is nurturing, wise, and full of love. She wants a relationship where she can travel for work knowing her children are safe and cared for and where she can love and care for another child of her husband’s with sincerity.
“I have a deep vision of what polygamy can be, but the real questions are: Can my husband be truly just? And can the new wife be spiritually grounded?”
Buithat concluded by reflecting on life and the concept of polygamy, saying, “Life really isn’t meant to be this hard. I just needed to share my thoughts on polygamy and what it means to me.”
