A Nigerian woman, Quenny Ogechukwu, has taken to Facebook to share her painful experience of what she described as marital s*xual abuse during her now-ended marriage.
In a candid post shared on Wednesday, April 9, Ogechukwu alleged that her estranged husband frequently forced her into prolonged s*xual activity—sometimes from midnight until morning—up to six times a week, often when she was physically unwell or emotionally drained.
She recalled one particularly traumatic instance where, despite suffering from a painful ankle sprain and severe swelling, her then-husband demanded s*x. “I couldn’t resist because my movement was restricted due to the injury—and he went ahead anyway,” she wrote.
Ogechukwu claimed her husband became most s*xually aggressive when she was sick, worn out, or emotionally shattered, but showed little to no interest when she appeared healthy or happy. “It was a pattern,” she said. “The worse I looked, the more s*xually active he became. When I looked better or seemed happy, he lost interest.”
Reflecting on the psychological aspect of abuse, she wrote: “I think people who are violent in relationships often have an inferiority complex masked as superiority. They crave control, power, and a sense of dominance—especially by making their partners feel small or broken.”
She also suggested that this need for control can manifest in twisted desires: “Over time, it becomes a fantasy to inflict pain. A craving to see their victim broken.”
In a raw observation, Ogechukwu questioned whether the high number of children in abusive marriages could be linked to coerced intimacy.
“Does this explain why people in abusive marriages have more kids than those in happy ones?” she asked.
She emphasized that her intention wasn’t to shame her former partner, but to share her personal truth. She also included a photo of her swollen leg following the ankle injury—taken shortly before one such incident occurred.
Her post has sparked conversations online around the often-overlooked issue of non-consensual s*x within marriages and the urgent need for awareness and protection for survivors.
