Melinda French Gates has opened up about the reasons behind her decision to leave her marriage to billionaire ex-husband Bill Gates.
In a recent interview with Late Show host Stephen Colbert, she revealed that the lack of honesty in their relationship significantly hampered their ability to connect intimately.
The 60-year-old made the difficult decision to part ways with Bill, the founder of Microsoft, after 27 years of marriage in 2021. As she promotes her new memoir, Melinda reflects on this major life transition and the complexities of her high-profile divorce.
“I learned that in order to have a trusted relationship, both partners have to be honest with one another,” Melinda stated. “And if you can’t, you can’t have intimacy and you can’t have trust. So in the end, I had to go.”
