King Charles and Queen Camilla were all smiles as they stepped out for a Sunday church service near Balmoral, showcasing their signature charm in matching tartan ensembles.
The royal couple, dressed in perfectly coordinated Highland attire, attended worship at Crathie Kirk, a historic granite church located close to the King’s beloved Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire.
Adding a sentimental touch to the service, Their Majesties were treated to a special musical tribute by acclaimed composer Professor Paul Mealor.
The new piece, titled “The Weather of My Being,” was written in honour of their upcoming 20th wedding anniversary.
The composition features three anniversary songs, each reflecting a unique facet of lasting love—an apt tribute to the royal pair’s enduring partnership.
Mealor, who has composed music for various royal occasions including the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate, several of the King’s birthdays, and his coronation in May 2023, described the piece as a heartfelt celebration of commitment and unity.
Although the King and Queen officially marked their milestone anniversary on Wednesday during their state visit to Italy—where they met with Pope Francis and were honoured at a state banquet—the Scottish church outing offered a quieter, more personal moment of reflection.
For the occasion, Queen Camilla looked elegant in a vibrant blue wool coat featuring a green tartan collar, layered over a ruffled cream blouse. She accessorized with a rich green leather handbag and a bold red beret adorned with dramatic feathers. Her rosy-toned makeup and softly styled hair completed the fresh spring look.
King Charles cut a regal figure in a green tweed coat and a striking tartan kilt made from the King Charles III tartan, a cloth newly designed by the Scottish Tartans Authority in 2023. The pattern was created to commemorate his coronation and his dedication to preserving Scotland’s cultural heritage and traditional Highland dress.
Together, the King and Queen radiated warmth and unity—both in spirit and in style—during their peaceful Sunday outing.
