The family of Naomi Chebet is demanding justice following her alleged murder by her husband, Samuel Njoroge, in their rented apartment in Kiambu, Kenya.
Naomi, who had recently reconciled with her estranged husband, was found dead by her brother Harrison on March 23, 2025. Her body displayed troubling injuries that suggested a violent attack.
According to her brother, Ben Koech, Naomi and Samuel had separated before reuniting in early March. They shared three children together.
Koech informed reporters that the couple had been living in Naomi’s rental home along with Harrison. On the evening of March 22, at approximately 9 PM, a neighbor saw Naomi returning home with Samuel.
About an hour and a half later, around 10:30 PM, the neighbor noticed Samuel leaving the house while wearing a mask.
Harrison, who typically works late, returned home between midnight and 1 AM. Upon finding Naomi lying on the couch under a blanket, he assumed she was merely resting after a long day and decided not to wake her.
However, the next morning, as he prepared for work, he attempted to awaken her and noticed she was in the same position. Alarmed, he uncovered her blanket and made the horrifying discovery—Naomi was unresponsive and had been dead for several hours.
Meanwhile, Samuel had not returned home that night or the following day and has since been missing.
A post-mortem examination conducted at Chiromo Mortuary unveiled shocking details about Naomi’s death. She had suffered two stab wounds to the back of her head, a fracture from a hammer blow to the top of her head, four deep finger marks around her throat, and a fractured left eye socket.
Despite these severe injuries, there were no visible signs of struggle or blood spatter at the scene, raising additional questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.
In a disturbing twist, Samuel allegedly posted a threatening message on Facebook stating, “Wewe kufa uniodokee malaya wewe,” which translates to “Die and leave me alone, prostitute.” He also sent a message to an unidentified recipient, confessing, “Mm nilimuuwa coze ya upuzi, mbona anijibu,” meaning “I killed her because of nonsense; why was she answering me back?”
Authorities tracked Samuel’s last known location to Githurai 45 on Monday, March 31.
Naomi’s family is urging law enforcement to accelerate the search for Samuel Njoroge and ensure justice for their lost loved one. They are calling on anyone with information about his whereabouts to assist the police in apprehending him.
“We are devastated. We need justice for our sister. The man who did this is still out there,” stated Ben Koech, Naomi’s brother.
