Newly engaged entrepreneur Ifedayo Agoro has sparked conversation online after stating that partners who don’t allow unrestricted access to their phones may be hiding something.
Sharing her thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), Agoro wrote: “If you don’t have unrestricted access to your partner’s phone, they’re hiding something. What they’re hiding may or may not be harmful to your relationship or marriage — but rest assured, something is being concealed.”
However, she also cautioned couples who do share open access not to misuse that privilege.
“To those who do have unrestricted access: don’t weaponize it. Don’t use it as a tool for control or manipulation — that will only breed resentment and distrust.”
Agoro concluded by addressing the issue of trust directly: “If you constantly feel the need to check your partner’s phone, then trust is already missing — and that’s a much bigger problem in the relationship.”
Her remarks have drawn mixed reactions online, with some agreeing that transparency is essential in healthy relationships, while others argue that boundaries and privacy should still be respected.
