The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Sowe Temidayo Igbekele, for allegedly killing and dismembering his 60-year-old father, Babatunde Sowe Kayode, at their residence in the Oshodi area of Lagos State.
According to police sources speaking to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, April 20, 2025, following a report filed at the Alakara Police Division by a female relative, identified as Temidayo Akinola, who resides at No. 56 Igbehinadun Street, Oshodi.
The incident reportedly took place on April 17 at approximately 9:00 a.m., within the family residence. The motive behind the brutal crime remains unclear at this time.
Homicide detectives from the command were dispatched to the scene, where they documented and photographed the area. The dismembered body of the deceased was recovered and taken to a public mortuary for autopsy.
Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene but was tracked down and arrested at a hideout in Oshodi on April 20.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
