A 50-year-old man living with HIV has been arrested for the alleged r*pe of his 10-year-old daughter and for infecting her with the virus in the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect, identified as David, was apprehended by police from the Otu-Jeremi Division on Friday, April 4, 2025.
According to reports, David had been in contact with unsuspecting women and girls in the community and is also accused of having infected his wife.
The situation came to light when the young girl fell ill and showed signs of severe malnourishment. Her mother took her to the hospital for testing, where it was revealed that the child had contracted HIV.
Upon further questioning, the victim disclosed that her father had been s*xually assaulting her.
“A man named Mr. David, around 50 years old, defiled his 10-year-old daughter. What’s particularly alarming is that he has allegedly been spreading HIV to unsuspecting teenagers and women in the area.
“With such cruelty, he went so far as to infect his own daughter after already harming his wife.
“We arrested him in the early hours of today, and medical examinations on the daughter indicated signs of multiple assaults by her father. It is truly a horrific situation,” he stated.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, has confirmed the suspect’s arrest.
