A soldier named Sudik allegedly cut off the fingers of a shoe seller, Abdulrahman Salisu, at his shop near Jolly Bread in Minna, Niger State, on Sallah day, according to The Nation.
Abdulrahman reported that Sudik came to his shop to purchase a pair of shoes and claimed to have made the payment via bank transfer. However, Abdulrahman stated that he had not yet received the payment notification.
The situation escalated violently when Sudik drew a cutlass and swung it at Abdulrahman’s head after he insisted that the payment be made.
In an effort to protect himself, Abdulrahman raised his left hand, which resulted in three of his fingers being severed.
As Abdulrahman cried out for assistance, Sudik and two accomplices fled the scene.
Abdulrahman later reported the incident to the nearest police station. It has since been confirmed that Sudik has been apprehended by security authorities, while Abdulrahman is receiving medical treatment at IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna.
In light of this incident, traders and shop owners from the Mobil roundabout, Jolly Bread, and Obasanjo Shopping Complex have expressed their concerns about the rising occurrences of violence and armed robbery in the area.
They are urging the state government to enhance security measures, noting that they live in constant fear.
