Colombian President Gustavo Petro has claimed he can no longer travel to the United States after former President Donald Trump allegedly revoked his visa—and in doing so, revealed the nickname he uses for Trump.
Speaking about his absence from an upcoming U.S. meeting, Petro said, “I can’t go anymore because I think they took away my visa.” He added humorously, “I didn’t need a visa, but oh well. I’ve seen Donald Duck several times, so I’m going to see other things.”
His nickname for Trump—“Donald Duck”—comes amid simmering tensions between the two leaders. Earlier this year, Trump threatened retaliatory action after Colombia initially refused to accept U.S. deportation flights carrying migrants.
Those threats reportedly translated into visa cancellations, tariffs, and other punitive measures targeting Colombian officials. However, these actions were rolled back after Colombia agreed to receive the flights, though it appears the visa issue for Petro remains unresolved.
