A 35-year-old Texas man has been arrested after allegedly throwing boiling soup on his 67-year-old girlfriend during an argument because, according to authorities, she was “talking too much.”
Alexander Alton McDavid of Waco reportedly became enraged on February 28 as his partner retrieved a plate of soup from the microwave at their shared residence on Washington Avenue.
According to a police affidavit cited by local station KWTX, McDavid intentionally struck the plate, causing the hot contents to spill and inflict third-degree burns on the woman’s right shoulder and forearm.
The victim, who does not have a phone or access to a vehicle, was unable to immediately seek help. She later reported the incident to authorities during a trip to the Social Security Office, where police documented her injuries and took her written statement.
McDavid now faces multiple charges including assault with bodily injury with a previous conviction, injury to the elderly, continuous family violence, resisting arrest, and making a terroristic threat against a family member. He remains in custody at the McLennan County Jail with bonds totaling $130,000.
According to the affidavit, McDavid had been living with the woman for about a year and had a history of abuse. The victim disclosed that he had previously choked her, though those incidents were never reported.
His criminal record includes prior arrests for assault — family violence in 2017, 2021, and May 2024, with the most recent case still pending prosecution.
The case has drawn renewed attention to domestic violence against the elderly and ongoing challenges in protecting vulnerable individuals in abusive situations.
