Despite being the children of two Hollywood icons, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s kids aren’t necessarily eager to follow in their parents’ famous footsteps.
The couple, married since 1997, share three children: son James Wilkie, 22, and twin daughters Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta (known as Loretta), 15. While James has expressed an interest in pursuing acting, at least one of the twins is firmly not interested.
Matthew recently spoke to People about whether their children are considering careers in entertainment. He shared that one of his daughters is “repelled” by the idea. “If you say, ‘What about you?’ She says, ‘Nope, absolutely not,’” he revealed with a laugh.
In contrast, James appears to be taking after his parents more closely. “I think he’s gonna try, yeah. He’s very smart,” Matthew said, suggesting that James may be taking steps toward establishing a career in the industry.
The Twins’ Different Paths
In a 2023 interview on LIVE with Kelly and Mark, Matthew shared more about the distinct personalities of the twins. He recalled how they initially wanted to attend separate high schools but ultimately chose to go to the same one. “They’re both extremely close but definitely want their own space, their own friends, their own time,” he said.
Kelly Ripa praised the couple for raising “lovely children” and joked, “And they’re nice behind your back!” To which Matthew responded with a smile, “That’s very nice to hear… that’s the important thing!”
