A yoga teacher was murdered in December 2024 over an alleged affair, but his body was only discovered on Monday, March 24, after police arrested the suspect following a lengthy investigation.
The accused, a resident of Rohtak, Haryana, reportedly learned that his tenant was involved with his wife. In response, he conspired with his friends to kidnap the man and bury him alive in a 7-foot-deep pit, police said.
According to authorities, Hardeep discovered that his tenant, Jagdeep—who taught yoga at Baba Mastnath University in Rohtak—was allegedly having an affair with his wife. Hardeep hired workers to dig a deep pit in Pantavas village, misleading them by claiming it was for a borewell.
On December 24, Hardeep and his associates abducted Jagdeep after he returned from work. They bound his hands and legs, beat him, and transported him to the pit. To silence him, they taped his mouth shut before throwing him in and covering the pit with mud, burying him alive.
A missing person’s report was filed on January 3 at Shivaji Colony Police Station, but the case remained unsolved until investigators traced Jagdeep’s call records, leading them to Hardeep and his accomplice, Dharampal.
After being taken into custody, both men confessed to the crime, revealing details of the murder.
Three months after the killing, police recovered Jagdeep’s body on March 24.
“There are other suspects involved, and they will be arrested soon. The post-mortem has been completed, and we are awaiting the report,” said Crime Investigation Agency unit in charge, Kuldeep Singh.
