Ukraine Reports Massive Overnight Drone Attack By Russia

Ukraine announced on Sunday that Russia launched over 100 drones overnight, targeting Kyiv and multiple regions amid a critical phase of the war, as U.S. military aid remains frozen.

The strikes followed deadly attacks on Friday and Saturday in eastern and northeastern Ukraine, which killed at least 14 people.

According to Ukraine’s air force, Russia deployed 119 drones, with 71 intercepted across a dozen regions, including the capital.

The status of 37 drones remains unclear, but authorities confirmed no casualties. However, six regions sustained damage, though specific details were not disclosed.

On Saturday evening, a glide bomb attack struck residential buildings in Druzhkivka, a town in Donetsk near the front line. Prosecutors reported that 12 people were injured, including a 15-year-old girl. Photos showed shattered windows and debris scattered across the streets.

Meanwhile, Russia claimed Ukraine launched 131 drones into its Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine. Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated that 101 drones were intercepted, with no reported casualties.

Amid rising tensions, Ukrainian officials are set to meet with U.S. representatives in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Washington aims to negotiate a ceasefire and establish a framework for a peace agreement, following its decision to freeze arms shipments and limit Kyiv’s access to intelligence reports and satellite imagery.
