A tragic accident involving a coaster bus carrying members of the Knights of the Catholic Church has left one person dead and 29 others injured.
The bus, owned by the Cross River State College of Nursing, Ogoja, crashed at the UNIZIK Temporary Site Junction in Awka, Anambra State.
The deceased, identified as 70-year-old Elliot Ushie Agana from Ogoja, lost his life in the crash, while the injured passengers were rushed to the hospital.
Reports indicate that the bus had departed Ogoja, Cross River State, for Abatete, Idemili North, Anambra State, where the knights were attending the burial of a fellow member, Dr. Ezigbo Sunny.
According to survivor Pastor Christian Ikere, passengers had noticed brake issues before the journey and urged the driver to address them, but their warnings were ignored.
