Princess Anne visited her brother, King Charles, at Clarence House on Friday morning following his brief hospital stay.
The 76-year-old monarch was admitted to the hospital on Thursday due to temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment. As a result, he had to cancel his scheduled engagements in Birmingham.
Despite the setback, King Charles appeared in good spirits as he waved to well-wishers while leaving Clarence House in his black Audi. He is believed to be traveling to his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire.
Moments earlier, Princess Anne was seen departing the residence in a black Bentley. The royal siblings share a notably close bond.
King Charles’ Hospital Visit
On Thursday evening, Buckingham Palace issued a statement confirming that the King had undergone a short period of observation in the hospital earlier in the day.
The statement read: “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital. His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.
His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and, as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled. His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”*
A palace spokesperson further explained that the King had been scheduled to receive credentials from three ambassadors and undertake four public engagements in Birmingham. Charles was said to be “greatly disappointed” to miss the events and hopes they can be rescheduled soon. He also extended his deepest apologies to those involved in organizing the visit.
