The Prince And Princess Of Wales Share Rare Insights Into Weekend Routine Of Prince George And Prince Louis

Princess Kate And Prince William spent their Saturday in Cardiff, attending the much-anticipated Six Nations match between England and Wales.

The couple enjoyed a friendly sporting rivalry, with Prince William backing Wales in his role as Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, while Princess Kate cheered for England as Patron of the Rugby Football Union.

A Glimpse into Their Family Weekends

Before the match, William and Kate met with injured players supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust inside the Sir Tasker Watkins Suite—a dedicated space for players and their families.

While speaking with former players about their careers, the royals also gave a rare look into their own weekend routine with their sons, Prince George and Prince Louis.

“At weekends, we go from one competition to the next,” William shared, while Kate added, “Louis is six and has just started touch rugby, and George, who is 11, plays a bit more. They really enjoy it.” She also noted, “They’ve been exposed to lots of different sports.”

This isn’t the first time Kate has spoken about her children’s enthusiasm for rugby. In 2022, she humorously revealed, “They’re all enjoying it—Louis is kamikaze! We’re worried about when he gets older; he’ll be in the middle of everything.”

A Family Passion for Sports

Rugby has long been a part of Kate’s life. Her sister, Pippa Middleton, previously shared with Vanity Fair, “Rugby was a big thing for our family. We’d plan our weekends around the big matches, with a quick bite to eat at halftime. If we lost, my dad would be in despair for the rest of the afternoon, as if he’d lost the game himself.”

Beyond rugby, William and Kate’s children have shown interest in various sports, including tennis, football, and gymnastics.

Prince George often accompanies his father to football matches, while Princess Charlotte expressed her love for gymnastics during the 2022 Commonwealth Games and even recorded a good luck message for the Lionesses before their Euros final.

In October last year, William also revealed George’s growing passion for scuba diving. Speaking with Olympians Adam Peaty and Tom Dean, he shared, “George loves scuba diving… We took him under, thinking he would freak out, but he absolutely loves it. It’s just about introducing him to the world of water.”
