Prince Louis, the youngest child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, has yet to achieve a significant royal milestone.
Unlike his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Louis has not yet accompanied his parents on a royal tour. George and Charlotte have already had their share of international travels, joining William and Kate on various tours.
In 2014, George accompanied them to Australia and New Zealand, while in 2016, Charlotte had her moment in the spotlight during the family’s visit to Canada.
However, a royal tour for Louis might not be far off. Princess Kate recently expressed her desire to take her children to Australia and New Zealand now that they are older.
During her visit to Wellington Barracks for the St Patrick’s Day Parade on Monday, the royal mother-of-three shared: “George finds it fascinating that he has been to Australia and New Zealand. I would like to go back there with them now. It’s finding the time to do that. But I love to travel – yes, it’s a long flight. But I love the Middle East because that’s familiar to me [from] growing up. There are so many opportunities now to travel, I think it’s brilliant to experience it.”
She added: “We tend to go further afield for official visits, but it’s important to find time to experience these countries in a more private capacity. Otherwise, you end up seeing the insides of amazing buildings but don’t get to meet many people.”
When it comes to royal tours, the British royal family follows a strict set of protocols. One key rule requires them to always carry a black outfit in case of a sudden royal passing. This tradition was enforced after the late Queen Elizabeth II found herself unprepared following the death of her father, King George VI, in 1952.
