Ditebogo Frans Gololo, a 28-year-old man arrested in December 2024 in Seshego, Polokwane, South Africa, on charges of statutory r*pe, has been cleared of all allegations following the results of a DNA test.
The testing confirmed that he is not the father of the baby, despite earlier claims that he had impregnated a 13-year-old girl.
Gololo had been in custody since the girl gave birth at Seshego Hospital on Christmas Day, maintaining his innocence throughout the ordeal.
The case has generated significant outrage and concern within the community, raising important discussions about the safety and protection of young girls. In particular, the residents of Polokwane voiced their frustrations over the rising issue of teenage pregnancies.
On March 3, 2025, Gololo appeared at the Seshego Magistrates Court, where, following the DNA results, he was granted bail.
Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), stated that the Director of Public Prosecutions is currently assessing the next steps in the case.
