Concerned royal supporters have issued heartfelt pleas for King Charles to take things slowly following a rare update from Buckingham Palace.
The palace announced on Friday that the 76-year-old monarch had experienced temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment, requiring a brief hospital visit and the cancellation of scheduled engagements.
Although his recovery is progressing as expected, the King opted to rest and work from home, departing Clarence House on Friday morning for his Gloucestershire residence, Highgrove House.
Public Concern and Well-Wishes
Following the news, royal fans took to social media to express their concern and encourage the King to focus on his health. Messages urged him to “take it easy” and not rush back to public duties too soon.
“His Majesty must take it easy and get better. We pray for him and wish him well. At this point, his recovery is the most important thing,” one fan wrote. Another added, “It must be exhausting dealing with both the illness and the treatment. It’s tough to see people go through it, especially at his age. I hope he’s got good people around him and is taking it easy.”
King Charles’ Support System
Among those rallying around the King is his sister, Princess Anne, who visited him at Clarence House on Friday morning before his departure. Their close bond was evident during his coronation, where Anne played a key ceremonial role as the Gold Stick-in-Waiting and greeted her brother warmly with “Hello, old bean.”
Reflecting on their relationship, royal expert Danielle Stacey noted: “The Princess Royal has always been a dedicated and hardworking member of the British monarchy, but it seems her relationship with the King has deepened. Despite her own demanding schedule, Anne has stepped up her engagements in recent months to support both her brother and the Princess of Wales as they continue their respective cancer treatments.”
Buckingham Palace’s Statement
The palace reassured the public with a statement explaining that while the King’s hospital visit was necessary, it was a routine precaution.
“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital. His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed,” the statement read.
Royal sources described the incident as a “minor bump in the road.”
A Public Appearance Amidst Recovery
Despite the setback, King Charles was seen in good spirits as he waved to well-wishers outside the palace before heading to Highgrove.
Tourist Julian Mati, 34, was among those who caught a glimpse of the King and shared his relief: “We were horrified when we heard the news yesterday. We had come down to the palace to take pictures, but we never imagined we’d see the King. To see him smiling and waving—it’s such a relief.”
While the King remains committed to his duties, his supporters continue to urge him to prioritize his health above all else.
