Carole Middleton marked her milestone 70th birthday in style on the idyllic Caribbean island of Mustique, according to a new report in The Mail on Sunday.
The celebration was a family affair, with Princess Kate and Prince William in attendance alongside their three children.
Carole’s daughter Pippa and her husband James Matthews also joined, as did her son James Middleton, his wife Alizée, and their baby son, Inigo.
During their stay, the Middleton family is believed to have resided at the extravagant five-bedroom villa, Les Jolies Eaux. Originally gifted to Princess Margaret in 1959, the opulent retreat costs an astonishing £37,000 per week. The property features a swimming pool, a dining pavilion, and a full-service staff, including a butler, gardener, and chef.
A description on the estate’s website highlights its grandeur: “In classic Messel style, guests arrive through a courtyard and into the glorious Great Room with a view of the pool and the gardens giving way to the Caribbean Sea beyond.
“The front of the house is instantly recognisable and leads to the extensive lawns running down to the hidden Gelliceaux beach, only discoverable by those ‘in the know’ and after which the house was named.”
Mustique: A Royal Favorite
The secluded island has long been a favored getaway for royals due to its exclusivity and strict privacy measures. With just one commercial hotel and a no-fly zone in place, it offers the perfect escape from the public eye.
James Middleton previously revealed in his memoir, Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life, that Kate’s royal wedding celebrations in 2011 were Caribbean-themed. The family even recreated Basil’s Bar, a famous Mustique hotspot, at The Goring hotel in London.
He wrote: “Ella and I find a quiet area in the garden to potter around. There, a replica of Basil’s Bar in Mustique – a small private island in the Grenadines and a holiday spot the family had visited many times – has been set up. Basil himself is to be one of the wedding guests.”
The Wales family has also enjoyed Mustique on previous occasions. In 2019, William and Kate traveled to the tropical island to celebrate Prince George’s sixth birthday. At the time, they shared a sunlit photo of their eldest son, grinning in a green polo shirt and striped shorts.
During that trip, the couple reportedly stayed in Villa Antilles, a £27,000-a-week luxury property owned by William’s friend Andrew Dunn. The stunning retreat boasts four bedrooms, a 60ft infinity pool, a jacuzzi, private staff, and breathtaking views of the neighboring islands of Bequia and Saint Vincent.
