American rapper Sexyy Red is being sued for allegedly urging her social media followers to attack Nicole Barnes, the paternal grandmother of one of her children.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the lawsuit, filed on Monday, claims that the “U My Everything” rapper—whose real name is Janae Wherry—allegedly told fans to “kick in the door” of Barnes’ home and commit acts of violence against her.
Barnes asserts that in December 2024, Red, 26, shared her address and a photo of her home on Facebook, allegedly encouraging followers to assault her.
“Sexyy Red and her baby daddy are having a dispute that has nothing to do with my client,” Barnes’ attorney, Steven Weaver, told the outlet on Tuesday.
“We tried to resolve this informally, but her attorneys dismissed it as a joke. Now, they’re realizing it’s not,” he added.
Barnes claims she filed a police report at the time of Red’s alleged post and was forced to relocate from Hazelwood, Missouri, for safety reasons. She also stated in the lawsuit that she has struggled to find housing at a comparable price and is undergoing therapy due to emotional distress caused by the situation.
She is seeking $5 million in damages.
Sexyy Red, known for hits like “SkeeYee”, has two children—a son born in 2020 and a daughter born in February 2024. However, little is publicly known about the fathers of her children.
