A chilling video has surfaced showing the moment Saritha Ramaraju, 48, was arrested with blood on her hands, after allegedly slitting the throat of her 11-year-old son, Yatin Ramaraju, following a trip to Disneyland.
In police bodycam footage obtained by Law & Crime, Ramaraju appears distant and eerily calm as she walks towards officers with their guns drawn, holding a phone to her ear. She silently approaches the police and surrenders without resistance.
“She has blood on her hands,” one of the officers is heard saying as they place her in handcuffs.
A Tragic Discovery
According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Ramaraju allegedly killed her son at the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Santa Ana after their three-day Disneyland trip. Prosecutors say she then ingested pills in an apparent suicide attempt before calling 911 to confess on March 19.
When officers arrived, they found Yatin’s lifeless body on the bed, surrounded by Disney souvenirs. Investigators believe he had been dead for several hours before authorities arrived.
During her 911 call, Ramaraju reportedly admitted to taking an unspecified number of pills, which may explain her dazed, emotionless appearance in the arrest footage.
Charges and Court Appearance
Ramaraju has been charged with one count of murder and one count of personally using a deadly weapon. She is set to appear in Orange County court on April 17.
