Michelle Obama has opened up about one of her husband Barack Obama’s habits that has frustrated her over the years.
Speaking on the premiere episode of her new podcast IMO with her brother Craig Robinson, the former first lady, 61, shared how Barack’s sense of timekeeping was a challenge in their marriage.
“Barack had to adjust to what ‘on time’ meant for me,” Michelle said.
Craig, 62, chimed in, joking that Barack operated on “island time” due to his Hawaiian roots, meaning he wasn’t always punctual.
Michelle recalled how her husband had a tendency to stall right before leaving, making them late.
“When it’s time to leave, I’d see him getting up, going to the bathroom, looking for his glasses—like, dude, a 3 o’clock departure means you’ve already done all that!” she said.
Despite her frustration, Michelle praised Barack for improving over their 30-year marriage, admitting he has made adjustments over time.
Their daughters, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23, have also learned from their mom’s punctuality standards.
“When they’re doing anything with me, they’re early. They’ve learned how to snap to it,” she added.
