Former Boy Meets World actress Maitland Ward has revealed that she feels more respected and empowered in the adult entertainment industry than she ever did during her time in mainstream television.
“I honestly think people treat me with more respect now, especially in Hollywood,” Ward shared in a recent interview with Fox News.
The 48-year-old actress noted that Hollywood executives are now more receptive to her journey as she works on adapting her memoir into a TV project.
“They’re incredibly respectful and positive about my story, especially younger people in the industry,” she added.
From Hollywood to Adult Entertainment
Ward rose to fame as Rachel McGuire in Boy Meets World (1998–2000) and appeared in The Bold and the Beautiful (1994–1996) before transitioning to the adult film industry in 2019.
Reflecting on the reaction to her career shift, Ward admitted she was surprised by the support she received.
“I expected backlash, but instead, I got overwhelming positivity. Everyone thought I’d be judged and torn apart, but because I was so happy and confident in my choice, people responded positively.”
In her 2022 memoir, Rated X, Ward described her transition into adult entertainment as a “soul-changing” experience.
“For the first time, I had confidence and a full-time job—not because I smiled for Hollywood higher-ups. The validation I received, especially after being told I’d never be seen as sexy, was truly transformative.”
Husband’s Support
Ward credited her husband, Terry Baxter, for supporting her decision to enter the adult film industry.
“He saw a truth in me—that I wasn’t crossing personal boundaries. He understood my fantasies and supported my choices.”
Married since 2006, the couple continues to maintain a strong relationship as Ward builds her brand in the adult entertainment industry.
