Los Angeles SUFFERS 3.9-magnitude earthquake following Oscars 2025

Just hours after the 97th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, an earthquake rattled Los Angeles hours.

The 3.9-magnitude tremor struck North Hollywood at around 10:13 p.m. on Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Shaking was reported to be felt miles across LA, including in Pasadena, Long Beach, San Fernando Valley, Torrance, Redondo Beach and Glendale, NBC Los Angeles reported.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries or damages, according to ABC 7.

The Los Angeles Fire Department posted on X that they would not enter ‘earthquake Mode’ following the quake. 

‘Earthquake mode’ is when first responders look for damage following a large earthquake, including damage to buildings and infrastructure.

Shaking was reportedly seen on a live stream of an afterparty hosted by Vanity Fair at the Wallis Annenberg Center, about 4 miles away from the Dolby Theatre, according to The Sun.

More than 9,000 people on the USGS’ – ‘Did you feel it?’ tool reported feeling the quake on Sunday.

Attendees at an exclusive afterparty at the Governors Ball at the Ovation Hollywood Complex allegedly shaking from the quake, a source told the Hollywood Reporter.

Sunday night’s earthquake follows a string of quakes that have rattled the Golden State in 2025.
