Lagos State: Two Dead, 14 Rescued In Building Collapse

Two individuals have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a two-storey building with a penthouse under construction on Oriwu Street in the Lekki area of Lagos today, March 5.

Rescue teams have successfully saved fourteen others trapped under the debris, all of whom were laborers working at the site. The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.

CSP Benjamin Hudenyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that police operatives were quickly dispatched to the scene.

“Two people have died, and a total of fourteen individuals have been rescued and transported to Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment. Our operatives remain on-site to ensure security during the ongoing rescue efforts,” he reported.
