King Charles has reportedly invested £3 million in a new property near Queen Camilla’s private home in Wiltshire. According to The Mail on Sunday, the King has acquired a neighboring property known as the Old Mill, situated along the river Avon.
This historical property, dating back to the Norman Conquest, is described in an undated estate listing as being “set in the most idyllic position with breathtaking views of the river Avon and surrounding countryside.”
The listing notes that the location offers great potential, featuring low head water turbines that could provide an income, all within approximately two acres of land. The house reportedly includes four bedrooms, two en-suite bathrooms, a large room awaiting conversion, two additional bathrooms, three reception areas, a kitchen, and a cloakroom.
It is believed that Charles purchased the property, which shares a private lane with Ray Mill House, using his own private funds. Queen Camilla acquired Ray Mill House in 1995 for £850,000 following her divorce from Andrew Parker Bowles. It served as her primary residence from 1996 to 2003 and is currently used as a rural retreat.
Camilla’s private home is a picturesque sanctuary featuring an outdoor swimming pool, stables, and extensive gardens. It has been reported that she found solace there following the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II, as well as after the state funeral of the late monarch in September 2022.
The residence also served as the backdrop for her 75th birthday portraits taken by Princess Kate and was the venue for the wedding reception of Camilla’s daughter, Laura Lopes, who married Harry Lopes in 2006.
