King Charles was seen smiling and waving at royal well-wishers on Sunday as he made his way to a church service in Sandringham.
The 76-year-old monarch attended St Mary Magdalene Church, located on his Sandringham estate. It appears he made the visit alone, as he was photographed without Queen Camilla.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was warmly welcomed by Canon Paul Williams, with the two exchanging a handshake and a few words.
For the crisp morning outing, Charles opted for a sophisticated look, wearing a long caramel-hued winter coat over tailored trousers, paired with suede brogues.
St Mary Magdalene Church, a 16th-century building, is a key location for the royal family’s Christmas traditions. While Windsor was once the preferred holiday destination, Sandringham has become the primary site for their festive celebrations.
Spanning 20,000 acres, the Sandringham Estate is the second-largest royal residence, following Balmoral Castle in Scotland, which covers 50,000 acres.
King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II’s father, famously called Sandringham “the place I love better than anywhere else in the world”. It was also where the first royal Christmas broadcast was recorded in 1932.
The estate has also played a significant role in Charles’s personal life, serving as a retreat where he recuperated following his first round of cancer treatment last year.
