Kaduna State: Moses And Yakubu Received Death By Hanging And Surgical Castration For R*pe

Two individuals, John Moses and Yakubu Mohammed, have been sentenced to death by hanging and surgical castration for r*pe in Kaduna State.

Hajiya Rabi Salisu, the state Commissioner for the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, shared this news with Daily Trust on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. She also announced that a third defendant, Mustapha Musa, received a life sentence for his involvement in r*pe.

Salisu reported that the ministry has secured three convictions for r*pe offenses between June 2024 and February 2025, emphasizing the significance of these rulings as a potential deterrent for future offenses.

“The ministry obtained a conviction on June 7, 2024, before Hon. Justice Nana in case KDH/KAD/57c/2023, State Vs. John Moses. The defendant was found guilty on two counts of r*pe and incest under Section 258(1) of the Penal Code Law 2017, as amended, and sentenced to death by hanging and surgical castration,” she stated.

“On February 6, 2025, we secured another conviction before Hon. Justice B. Yusuf in case KDH/KAD/69c/2023, State Vs. Yakubu Mohammed. The defendant was convicted on two counts of r*pe under Section 258(1) of the Penal Code Law 2017, as amended, and sentenced to death by hanging and surgical castration,” she added.

“Additionally, on February 24, 2025, Hon. Justice Isa Aliyu presided over case KDH/KAD/66c/2021, State Vs. Mustapha Musa. The defendant was also found guilty on two counts of r*pe under Section 258 of the Penal Code Law and sentenced to life imprisonment.”

She concluded by acknowledging the legal expertise of M.P. Danjuma Esq. and Halimatu S. Bello Esq., who handled the cases.
