Gwyneth Paltrow took to Instagram to dispel the rumors of a “beef” between herself and Meghan Markle after a fan frenzy arose just days earlier. During a Q&A session on Tuesday, Gwyneth invited her followers to ask her any burning questions.
One fan seized the opportunity, asking her if she understood the alleged feud between her and Meghan Markle.
In a candid response, Gwyneth declared, “I genuinely do not understand this at all whatsoever.” Dressed casually in her kitchen, she then turned the camera to reveal Meghan sitting right beside her, looking completely at ease in the actress’s home.
Meghan playfully shrugged at the inquiry before taking a bite of a slice of pie in front of her, further quelling any speculation about tension between the two.
The surprise appearance follows Gwyneth’s earlier Instagram video that sparked rumors of a feud. In the clip, she was seen making breakfast in her pajamas and without makeup, while using the song
“This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole—an upbeat track that fans associated with Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. The song had been featured multiple times in promotions for the show, leading some to speculate that Gwyneth was making a subtle jab at Meghan.
Fans noted the stark contrast between Meghan’s polished and curated show, where she donned beautiful outfits in a rented kitchen, and Gwyneth’s more down-to-earth video, filmed in her own home without any glam.
By sharing their social media video together, the two stars have sought to lay the feud rumors to rest and appear to be strengthening their bond. Gwyneth previously spoke to Vanity Fair about her feelings towards Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, who are neighbors.
“I don’t know Meghan and Harry,” she said, adding, “I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all. Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”
While Gwyneth admitted she hadn’t watched Meghan’s show, she emphasized that there was no animosity between them.
“When there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have a strong instinct to stand up for them,” she explained. “I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. There’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves a chance at everything they want to try.”
Both women share a passion for wellness and cooking, with Gwyneth launching her successful Goop brand in 2008 and Meghan recently announcing her new venture, As Ever. This new project will offer a variety of products, such as fruit preserves, tea, and baking mixes.
In her Instagram announcement, Meghan expressed, “This new chapter is an extension of what has always been my love language, beautifully weaving together everything I cherish — food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday.”
