Girl, 13, ARRESTED over the death of mother found dead ‘with stab injury’ following house fire

A 13-year-old schoolgirl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder after the body of a mother-of-three was found following a house fire. 

The defendant is also charged with arson with attempt to endanger life.

Police confirmed on Tuesday the girl will appear at Northampton magistrates’ court at 10am on Wednesday. 

The body of a woman, believed to be 43-year-old Marta Bednarczyk, was found on Monday following the blaze in Newcomen Road, in Wellingborough.

Police and firefighters were scrambled to the property at 3am where they discovered the mother’s body. She was declared dead at the scene at 3.29am.   

A post-mortem examination at Leicester Royal Infirmary found she died as a result of a ‘sharp force injury’, Northamptonshire Police said.
