A 37-year-old housewife known as Mama Zahra reportedly collapsed and passed away while fetching water in Bugakwo village, located in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The village head, Suleiman Adamu, confirmed the tragic incident to Daily Trust via telephone, stating that it occurred around 2:34 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
Adamu explained that the mother of four had left her home to collect water from a borehole when the incident took place. He noted that she was on her way back, carrying a basin of water on her head, when she suddenly collapsed.
Immediately after her fall, neighbors nearby attempted to help by pouring water on her. She was then transported on a motorcycle to Kwaku Primary Health Centre, where she was sadly pronounced dead.
The village head mentioned that he sent two aides to inform her husband, who was working on the farm at the time of the incident.
“The woman’s husband had gone to the farm when this happened, but I quickly directed two of my aides to go inform him,” Adamu said.
He added that the husband reported that the deceased had complained of a severe headache the night before and he had given her paracetamol after Subhi prayers before leaving for the farm.
“Unfortunately, medical personnel at the health center later attributed her death to high blood pressure,” the village head explained.
