The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, has urged European countries to brace for potential threats as the war between Russia and Ukraine continues.
Speaking on Wednesday while presenting the ‘White Paper for European Defence and the ReArm Europe Plan/Readiness 2030,’ Kallas emphasized the need for Europe to strengthen its defense capabilities to safeguard peace and security.
“We do this not to fight a war but to prepare for the worst, defend peace in Europe, and stand strong for a world where might cannot make right,” she stated.
Kallas warned that the global order is undergoing its most significant transformation since 1945, calling it a “pivotal moment for European security” and urging decisive action.
Her remarks follow recent statements from Italy and Spain, which on Monday expressed reluctance to support the EU’s proposal to commit up to $43.67 billion in military aid to Ukraine this year.
